Mercer County moves toward low cost spay neuter clinic Forever Fixed
Mercer County Commission approved up to 20 000 for a spay neuter clinic to be housed in a renovated barn near the Mercer County Animals Shelter. Bluefield and Princeton officials consider similar contributions while the Humane Society pledges 35000 for supplies and equipment. A 501C3 nonprofit named Forever Fixed is being set up to run the project as start up funds are designated over time.

Sale of former bank building authorized in Princeton
The Princeton City Council authorized the sale of 1001 Mercer Street to Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center for 1.75 million dollars with contingencies. The building near the Princeton Public Library would host new facilities if the finalization proceeds, a move announced late Wednesday afternoon.

West Virginia Fire Season Returns March First
The West Virginia Division of Forestry announces the spring fire season begins March 1 with burning restrictions from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Fires set during this time must be extinguished by 7 a.m. Gov.
