A Falls Mill man drove to Bluefield Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his left thigh after his finger hit the trigger while adjusting a holstered .45 on Bluefield Avenue. The bullet lodged in the driver door. his fiancée was unharmed. No citations were issued.

Mercer County dog cruelty probe ends in arrest

Mercer County Sheriff's Department says Daniel Dobos, 49, of Camp Creek, was arrested on a felony cruelty to animals charge after an investigation into a dog dragged behind a pickup on Pigshin Ridge Road. Veterinarian findings concluded the dog suffered massive injuries leading to death. The remains were found in a field behind the suspect's trailer.
