The Christian Church will mark Mission Sunday on the first day of March with a national foreign mission collection targeting 200000 dollars. Since 1875 the society has raised 1822825 dollars and operates in Cuba, the Philippines, Turkey, Africa, Japan, China and other regions with 335 missionaries and 35 schools, 1 hospital, and 64 patient treatments last year. Col. Alfred Landon Rives, renowned architect and Civil War engineer, died suddenly at Castle Hill Albemarle County at age about ninety one.
