Kickstarter seeks funds to save historic Greenbrier pavilion

The campaign aims to raise 25000 to preserve a 180 year old Greek Revival pavilion once part of the Blue Sulphur Springs spa between Dawson and Alderson in Greenbrier County. kickoff party is planned at the Lewisburg convention and visitors bureau with funding led by the Friends of the Blue and Preservation Alliance of West Virginia.

McDowell grand jury indicts six on murder charges

McDowell County grand jury indicted six individuals including Donald Sidney Bailey Troy Lee Justice and Sheila Bailey on charges of murder arson and conspiracy linked to the November 2014 deaths of Brandon Church and Clinton Mullins found in a burned vehicle in the Longpole area. Rehabilitation director candidate returned to Mercer County probation

Jeffrey Allen Keatley, 47, of Mercer County, once slated to lead the Four Seasons Recovery Center in Bluefield, tested positive for oxymorphone on Feb. 14. Judge Omar Aboulhasa briefed the court that the test indicated oxymorphone use, not oxycontin, and Keatley admitted using for about a month while residing in Mercer County.

Mercer woman sentenced for stabbing husband

A Mercer County Circuit Court judge sentenced Stacy Pruett a 30 year old Bluefield woman to one to three years after she pleaded guilty to an October 2014 indictment for attempted felony malicious assault domestic battery and domestic assault stemming from a March 12 2014 stabbing of her husband. The judge stressed domestic violence is a serious crime and there are consequences.

Recovery center seeks new applicant to lead project

Bluefield plans for a Mercer County addiction recovery facility moved forward as supporters at Trinity United Methodist Church discussed interviewing candidates for director. The Four Seasons Recovery Center will occupy a former Preston Street school and aims to open May 1. Former appointee Jeff Keatley, 47, faced a probation violation arrest February 13 and a hearing was set before Circuit Court Judge Omar Aboulhasa. The Healing Place в Huntington supports Keatley, citing relapse as part of addiction.
