Sunday Personalities reports Sarah Jessica Parker discusses marriage in Hollywood and in real life. She says her character doubts monogamy while Parker and Matthew Broderick have not wed, noting she may be old fashioned or hesitant to push for a proposal.
In Richmond the General Assembly passed a compromise welfare reform package, delivering Gov. George Allen a late victory as many of his priorities failed. The plan phases in work requirements, limits benefits for additional children born to welfare mothers, and requires minor parents to live with a parent or grandparent.
The Bluefield Community Center hosts a Black History Month program at the Bluefield Area Arts and Crafts Center at 2 p.m. Rev. Garry Moore is guest speaker. Performers include Moore, his wife Kim, Karl and Gloria Miller, Donna Moore, Arthur Hendricks and Bill Archer.

Cedar Bluff Virginia authorities say four new traffic signals will be activated next week as part of the Route 460 Cedar Bluff Cuts project. Signals will be tested before the March closure, with work expected to take 12 months and reroute about 11 000 vehicles daily. Motorists may use Route 609 Kent Ridge Road to bypass construction during closure.
In Lurfield Virginia Graham Middle School students totaling 150 in science and computer classes have built four robots from kits. Funded by a grant from the Southeastern Universities Research Association and the U.S. Department of Energy the program includes a robotic arm and mobile rivals Piper Mouse Manta and Spider. Jim Hale supervises the project and notes students are thriving in the robotics field.
Judge John R. Frazier requires Mercer County Sheriff D B Meadows to furnish bailiffs and security for the Family Law Master Court and Princeton Magistrate Offices effective May 15 1995. Estimated cost around 60000 may force cutting third shift patrols. officials cite tight funding. Meadows says officers are assigned on request but manpower is insufficient.
In Princeton Mercer County courts Judge John R. Frazier ordered the sheriff and county commission to provide bailiff services by May 15 1995. The plan seeks full time bailiffs for the Princeton Magistrate Courts and Family Law Master Court with funding partly allowed from the Magistrate Expense Fund. County Clerk Rudolph Jennings noted the $35 per officer daily limit won’t cover full salaries, and Sheriff D B Don Meadows said the allotment covers only half the magistrate court bailiff pay.
