Five African American cooks and waiters from a dining car were raided by law officers on a passenger train. Sixty two pints of liquor were seized but charges were dismissed and all men were released. The case followed arrests by Prosecuting Attorney Lee Deputy Sheriff Akers and Constable Winfrey, with Justice of the Peace Stowers presiding.

Miner Mose Sanders Killed Jumping From Train Near Welch
Mose Sanders, a colored miner living two miles west of Welch, was killed Saturday night after he jumped from the rear of passenger train No. 3 at Welch. He had boarded the train hoping to ride to Farm for water, but the train halted where he intended to alight.
