George William Johnson 50, a former Democratic congressman from West Virginia, died tonight in a Martinsburg hospital after a 10 week illness. Survived by wife Mary A. McKendree and children, he served six terms starting in 1923 and retired last year to Jefferson County. Funeral planned Sunday at Zion Episcopal Church in Charlestown.

Second Lieutenant Gilbert P. Bailey 21 of Princeton was killed in action in the Italian theater on January 27. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Robert E Bailey of 117 Giles street Bluefield and husband of Evelyn Martin of Princeton. He previously served with the National Guard and earned a bravery citation in 1941 for saving lives when a boat overturned. He was commissioned January 4 1943 and served at Camp Atterbury before overseas in September 1943. He is survived by his wife, parents, and several siblings.

Two State Policemen Robbed Of Guns Near Huntingdon
Harrisburg reports two state policemen from the Huntingdon barracks were held up on route 22 west of Huntingdon and robbed of their guns by two men in an automobile. Major Charles C. Keller said Privates Blyler and Bailey were on duty in a police car when the crime occurred and a search of the robbers is underway. Police in neighboring barracks and West Virginia were asked to be on the lookout for the suspects heading west.
