A surprise Valentine Festival celebrated Mrs Clara Meadows silver anniversary as secretary of Princeton Chapter No 53 Order of the Eastern Star. Notables included Maude Abshire and Nell Hyden, with family members and friends presenting gifts and a life member badge.

The Princeton High School Key Club met at First Christian Church with Doug Jones of Kiwanis in charge. Members Cris Barton Joe Tr Bill Winter Ayers Shutt and advisor Mr Sautt discussed attending Sunday services at First Methodist, collecting furniture and clothing for Tibbs family, and monthly reports. An officer election elected Ted Gillesbie president Phil McClung vice president Paul Barber treasurer and Tom Brohard secretary.
Mercer County 4-H Club officers leaders training school will be held Saturday February 25 at 9 30 in Princeton High School Building Instructors include 4 H leaders Mrs Bonnie A Peck Summers County leaders Mrs Ruby Harbert and others Awards will honor 38 club members for work in 1955 Pins and medals will be awarded to listed 4 H members across multiple projects including canning bread making dress revue garden public speaking and more Local 4 H officers leaders and adult council members are urged to attend the training meeting.
Princeton Old Guard Chapter No 2 meets with 73 members present as H C Arnold Jr a public accountant discusses income tax and the 1200 allowance after 65. He notes April 15 filing deadline and recommends bank checks for dependents. Also reports on birthdays Feb 29 and Feb 28 and club roster hits 136.
A cent meeting of Tri M School class staged a surprise tribute for Rev. Erwin, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Charles Yearout organized the event with Al Rich impersonating Ralph Edwards as master of ceremonies and Mrs. Yearout presenting a This Is Your Life review of the honoree’s life.
Circuit Court judge grants perpetual injunction against Conley T. Snidow and Conley T. Snidow Jr. to stop obstructing the original drain near Ingleside Road Princeton. A mandatory order reopens the drain within 60 days. $500 bond and 60 day appeal stay granted.
National FFA Week spotlights Future Farmers of America work with window displays radio programs and a parent student banquet. Spanishburg FFA has 65 members led by President Bradley Baldwin with officers including Paul Amick and Gene Akers. National FFA exceeds 383000 members. West Virginia surpasses 5000. The week honors George Washington and his farm at Mount Vernon and early soil conservation efforts.
The will of Charles N. Wilson of Bluefield dated October 22 1949 was probated in the county clerk s office. Most of the estate goes to his widow Rosa Wilson. Hobart B Wilson receives a house and 10 acres at Turkey Creek Florida US Bonds and firearms.
James Chausky Webb, a Fre restaurant operator, was found guilty of second degree murder by a Mercer county jury and sentenced to an indeterminate term of 5 to 18 years in state prison by Judge Walter Ross. The motion to set aside the verdict was overruled. Morris Jr. was shot in the restaurant on January 1. January term adjourned without a day.
Serving on the Mercer honor patrol this week are Sarah Miller Betty Perdue Sue Mandeville Patricia Thomas Ronnie Shumate Danny Williams Kay White and Jimmy White in Mrs. Walthall's seventh grade. You Adult Department of Fir Baptist Church hosts a 6:30 dinner meeting this evening at the church.
