Miner in Buchanan Crushed to Death
Nineteen year old Sidney Allen Absher of Tazewell died in an industrial accident at H and L Coal Co tipple near Whitewood Buchanan County after falling into rolling coal. He had been loading a truck when the coal began to fall and investigators found his foot and leg in the pile. Time of death is set at 2 p.m. He was 19, born in Park Ridge and survived by a large family. Funeral planned at Hurst Scott Funeral Home Richlands.
