At Beaver auditorium the affirmative team of Mika Norma Lee Davin and Leroy Kats defeated Princeton with a two to one vote, while Beaver negatives beat Beckley High School two to one. Beckley’s affirmative debaters were Phyliia Huddeston and Charles Garvin. An early report incorrectly announced the visiting team as the winner.

Beaver High School senior Fielda Richardson won first prize in the annual declamatory contest at Rory and Henry College in Dmory Virginia.
