Beaver high school hosted the Pierian Literary Society last night with a elaborate program and large audience. Invitations and attendance exceeded expectations as members presented an art filled program in the school building.

The 34 year old O H Harman, fatally shot near Matlock by Harry Waldron after a craps game dispute over $4, was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bluefield. Relatives and friends attended as Waldron and two others awaited grand jury action. Harman’s death followed injuries from a weapon blast to the head. Harman’s mother, widowed wife, and nine siblings survived him. the mother remains seriously injured from a recent accident.
The Orpheum screens The Life of Our Saviour in seven color reels from 10 am to late night Saturday to benefit Grace Methodist church Women’s Missionary Society circle No 2. Organizers urge early shows to avoid crowding at night.

Charles Field aged sixty eight uncle of Hicks Field and Mrs EB A Leonard died yesterday morning at his brother Thomas Field home in Castlewood Virginia after a brief pneumonia illness. A native of Abingdon Virginia he spent years in California before returning east five years ago to live with his brother He is survived by sister Mrs W T Baldwin of Radford and by his sister Mrs Leonard and Mr Field.
