West Virginia troopers push more help for crimes against children
Governor Manchin asked the Legislature to fund six additional troopers and one civilian analyst for the Crimes Against Children Unit. Six troopers could each handle cases of child sexual abuse neglect and physical abuse in Mercer and McDowell counties, with CPS and CHHR support. Sgt. Clemons notes the need for more investigators to handle rising abuse cases.

Man dies in single car wreck near Falls Mills
The Mercer County sheriff's department investigated a single vehicle crash on Falls Mills Road about half a mile east of the Virginia line. Roy Boyd, 38, of Bluefield, died from injuries after the 11:50 a.m. crash. A female passenger said the driver may have swerved to avoid an object on the road and lost control. Boyd was ejected from the vehicle.
