Fire destroys home on Jones Street in Bluefield
Two elderly Bluefield women Eula Harris and Aldin Bratton escaped a Jones Street fire that started above the furnace and spread to the attic. Nephew Bo Bradshaw woke them and summoned help as 14 firefighters battled the blaze. The fire was under control by 9 22 a.m.

Welch manhunt ends in murders and suicide in McDowell County
Williams, a Welch resident with a violent criminal past, shot his daughter Angela Denise Williams and Donna Williams, 43, along Route 7 before killing himself. Safe and sound: Giles girl found alive
A 14 year old Giles County girl missing after leaping from a 75 foot Pembroke bridge into the New River was found alive and taken to Giles Memorial Hospital. Investigators said the girl is safe and the investigation will continue next week.
