Bland Residents Hurt In Wreck On Snow Slick Highway

Two Bland County residents W B Bird 77 and Glorena Bird 68 were injured when their car collided with a northbound tractor trailer on U S 21 52 on East River Mountain. The truck driver Clifton Folsom 39 of Pasadena Texas was uninjured. Both victims were taken to Bluefield Sanitarium in fair condition after rescue crews freed Bird from the wreckage. Estimated damage reached 3400 dollars as slick highway conditions prevented charges.

Snow Worsens Driving as Chains Advised Across Regions

Snow began falling in the Bluefield area Wednesday afternoon making roads slick on primary and secondary highways. State police urged extreme care and recommended chains or snow tires.
