Lieuts. Clement McMullin and Will White completed a Newark to Buenos Aires flight in six days with 52 hours 15 minutes of air time over 6 700 miles. The Lockheed plane with a Pratt Whitney Wasp engine performed perfectly as the aviators praised rapid continental mail links and future Western hemisphere air traffic growth. They were greeted warmly upon landing at the Argentine army flying field.

Westminster Maryland February 19 Carroll county authorities continue to hold Paul W Edwards 48 as they seek more information in the death of William Thomas Keefer 79 last December Keefer who cared for Edwards and his sister left property to them in his will After exhumation viscera from Keefer was tested by a Baltimore chemist Edwards was arrested though no charge has been filed yet Authorities say Keefer died after a breakfast dish of oatmeal and his wife became ill but recovered.
A 260 man group marched again at the Glendale Gas Coal company Alexander mine near Moundsville West Virginia amid a continuing strike. State police dispersed the demonstrators after repeated efforts to remain.
Five witnesses told the House judiciary committee they oppose the dry amendment and favor state regulation of liquor, urging repeal. Detroit motor maker Henry B. Joy attacked a Protestant church lobby, linking it to prohibition and war, and other witnesses cited funding, lawbreaking, and corruption tied to the 18th Amendment.

Florence, Arizona February 19 Mrs Eva Dugan a 52 year old housekeeper was found sane by a twelve man jury in superior court. She was sentenced to die for the 1927 murder of A J Mathis with her execution set for sunrise Friday. The insanity hearing was a last effort to evade the gallows as the state board of pardons had refused to intervene. The case involves a makeshift grave near a Tucson ranch and an autopsy showing a skull fracture.
Bluefield merchants gear up for a semi annual Dollar Day event benefiting the city and coalfields. Stores showcase dollar day signs, hundreds of items go on sale, and the Retail Merchants association backs the effort with plans to speed service.

Col Hodges will represent the President. honorary pallbearers include Brown and Davis along with Pittsburgh and Allegheny county officials.
Vigorous debate over Hugh M. Tate of Knoxville Tennessee stalled a Senate vote on his confirmation to the Interstate Commerce Commission today. Senator Black accused Tate of representing Southern Railway and power interests and violating bi partisan norms. Tate would replace Richard V. Taylor whose term expired January 1. Debate to resume tomorrow.
Pineville West Virginia February 19 A Wyoming county circuit court jury acquitted James Tol liver 283 of robbing Henry Shumate on a highway near Glen Fork A prior trial had produced a hung jury Rye Worthington convicted at the October term on the same charge was sentenced to twenty five years imprisonment

The Federal Power Commission faced criticism from Chairman Couzens of the interstate commerce panel and its staff for discord, noted by Secretary Wilbur.

Aniline spice seeds and certain spices were moved to the free list after Wagner argued they were for revenue and not US produced. Senator Blaine supported an 8 cent a pound rate but not less than 42.

Mrs. Pearl Rotenberry 17 and her infant Lerena die after a gasoline explosion and house fire in Carswell Hollow near Kimball McDowell County. Rosa Lee Lane, 6, dies in the blaze as Timbermen rush to aid. Rotenberry dies at Grace hospital Welch and infant and Rosa Lane perish in the two room mountain home ruins.
Pittsburgh February 19 William Dreibhold nineteen twenty four year old was shot to death by a motorcycle policeman during a riot sparked when a taxicab was stoned at the Baltimore and Ohio station. The first fatality in the taxicab drivers strike occurred as cars pulled away and police fired into the crowd. Three men in the machine were arrested.
Beckley West Virginia February 19 L W Gravely Mabscott police chief posted a $5000 bond before Magistrate M F ODel to await Raleigh shooting case action. John Ballew died after being shot last Wednesday night in a Mabscott poolroom while resisting arrest officials said.
