Roanoke Ex-Sheriff Traynham Murder Shrouded in Mystery
J B Traynham former Roanoke sheriff and father of Mrs Hoge Mason Bluefield was found murdered in his bed in the Thomas building near the court house. His throat was cut from ear to ear and his skull crushed with an ax. A coroner jury could not yet reach a verdict as to motive or killer. The last sighting was 9 PM the previous night. he was 70 and long associated with city service.
