Feb 19 dispatches report Greece pressing claims in Crete amid European power measures to curb Greek actions. Greek forces under Col. Vassos prepare operations while a Greek naval presence and Turkish fortifications draw heavy international attention.
The Senate debated the arbitration treaty with Great Britain before adjourning and considered postponement options. In the House, a conference report on Brigadier General Carr’s widow pension sparked a clash, with the House insisting on $50 monthly instead of $75 and sending the measure back to conference.

Six persons perished in a mass murder near Winona Missouri River area believed to be the work of Indians. Victims include Mrs Waldron Mrs Rouse and twin babies along with Thomas Spicer and the missing husband Jack Spicer. Fort Yates troops assist as searching parties scour the region for perpetrators.
In Ashland Mrs. Augusta Webber was found dead at home with a distressed posture suggesting a painful death, believed to be several days old. In Bloomsburg Miss Sue Miller, 19, died after Paris green ingestion, likely due to failed job prospects. In Baltimore Mrs. Cunningham, wife of Rev. D A Cunningham, died at Johns Hopkins Hospital, having led the National Woman's Presbyterian Auxiliary Society. In Atlantic City Harry Rue unearthed a preserved human right hand near a pier while digging for valuables, linking to a prior female hand found near the Berkley Hotel last December.
Springfield Ohio February 19 five hundred delegates and thrice as many visitors attend the state convention of the Young Men's Christian Associations representing sixty five local groups with twenty thousand members. Noted national figures will speak including Governor Bushnell President Ingalls Judge Baldwin evangelist Wilbur Chapman and Dr Wishard. The opening exercises featured an address by Wishard and formal organization. Governor Bushnell presides at tonight's welcome with M E Ingalls to give the opening address.

Progress reported in Odd Fellows plans to establish a home for indigent and aged members and their wives. A 300 acre Illinois farm near a thriving town is sought, with buildings or erection at moderate cost. The state grand lodge has donated $10,000, with more from lodges and individuals. Illinois delegates met to push the project.
A man and wife with three children and three yellow dogs amused boys at a passenger station. The man chased a loose dog as the 5:20 train neared, leaving wife and children. the dog was recaptured but the wife and gun were left behind as the train departed. He valued the dog as a fine coon hound and chose to pursue it over the train. The family remained in town, with the dog under surveillance.

Davis left his property to his wife in a will that was burned after her death and no other will exists, so the estate passes to blood kin.
Norfolk Dispatch reports a white man named J. O. Wilson and a woman named Cora Bell walking arm in arm to the Academy of Music drew attention. Policeman Dannon arrested them as nuisances. In court Wilson was fined five dollars and Bell three dollars. Wilson said she was only an acquaintance.
