Roads improve as schools reopen after wintry storm
Residents dig out from a Monday snowstorm in the two Virginias with another inch or two from a Tuesday night snowfall. Midweek forecast calls for partly sunny skies and highs in the 30s with a return of precipitation by Saturday. West Virginia road crews worked 12 hour shifts to clear secondary roads used by bus routes before services resume. Interstates and the Turnpike were mostly clear though icy spots on bridges remained a warning on the toll road. Schools across Bland Tazewell Giles and Buchanan counties adjusted reopenings and schedules amid improving conditions. Mercer County will resume classes after a two day layoff as roads improve.
