In Gate City Virginia Wallace, a 90 year old physician with over a century in medicine and more than 3000 hours flying his own plane, flies a Saberline jet trainer to the Tri-Cities to pick up his wife. FAA officials rate him an excellent pilot and he continues practicing medicine six days a week.
U S troops planes and patrol boats closed in on a cove near Saigon to sever guerrilla nests and inspect a camouflaged 100 foot ship capsized by bombs. About 500 troops moved to seal the area as heavy shore fire continued and a U S spokesperson declined comment on a North Vietnamese shelling accusation.
A 15-year-old Bluewell boy is charged in Bluefield Juvenile Court with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, unauthorized taking of a car, and driving without a permit after two crashes Thursday around 6 50 p m. The vehicle struck Frances Shin shock on Bluefield Avenue and a utility pole on Princeton Avenue.
James R. Johnson 41 faced manslaughter charges after a jury found him involved in a fatal shooting in his yard on Third Street last Sept. 12. Judge Howard M. Jarrett instructed jurors to consider five verdict options and set March 5 for motions to set aside the verdict as law and evidence. Johnson was free on $7500 bond as the case moves to appeals.
London AP report says Bernard Sunley civil engineer and property developer who died in November at age 54 left a 2.3 million dollar estate after taxes and debts to his family. He bequeathed 9800 dollars to fund an employee banquet. The rest goes to his family.

MOUNDSVILLE AP A Marshall County Circuit Court jury found Mercer County inmate James Springston not guilty of stabbing Jesse Taylor to death in a prison yard last July 4. Taylor died from six stab wounds with a mattress needle. Springston, serving a 1 to 10 year sentence for breaking and entering, faced testimony from seven fellow inmates who said Taylor had threatened him with a leather strap.
