Wrestling promoter Toots Mondt books Chief White Eagle of the Mohawks against Nikolai Zolotoff the Bearded Russian for a main event at Bluefield. The card follows a snow delay with radio host Danielle Miller set for post match entertainment.
Washington and Lee upset The Citadel 72-66 in Lexington as Jack Daughtrey sparked the win off the bench with 15 points and strong rebounding. Dom Flora led Citadel with 26 points while Dick Wherry kept the Bulldogs in the game in the second half.
Middleweight champion Carmen Basilio ran three miles in 41 degree morning chill in Miami Beach as he prepares for a March 25 title defense against Sugar Ray Robinson in Chicago. He followed the run with a precautionary penicillin shot and rested for the day with Syracuse friends, planning to resume sparring tomorrow.

Mr and Mrs James Crane and James Ratcliffe all suffered vertebral fractures. Mrs Crane expected to be discharged soon while the two men face extended hospital stays.
Bedford February 18 The District 1 Group III basketball tournament for schools in Bedford Campbell and Amherst Counties was postponed indefinitely due to weather. Richard Lee principal of Big Island High School and District I Committee chairman stated no new dates are set and weather will determine when play resumes.
New York February 18 Notre Dame and Pittsburgh earned at large bids to the NCAA basketball tournament. Oklahoma State Connecticut and Idaho State had already been named. Niagara joined Dayton and St Bonaventure in accepting NIT invitations for Madison Square Garden March 12 22. Niagara talks include a four game winning streak and five games left. Notre Dame riding a 15 of 17 run with five to play and Pittsburgh with five left to play start Wednesday with Carnegie.
New York February 18 Gil Hodges says the Los Angeles Dodgers must seek a catcher for Roy Campanella who is paralyzed after a January 28 wreck. Hodges, 33, refuses to return to catching, prefers first base and hints he might help if asked. He cites Walt Alston may call, cites candidates Walker Roseboro and Pignatano as potential replacements.
Sugar Ray Robinson boxed two extra rounds in Greenwood Lake New York as snow and ice prevented road work. He trains for the March 25 middleweight title bout with Carmen Basilio in Chicago and pushes to sharpen his style.

John McMillin the 22 year old Californian led the Houston Classic qualifying with a 69 three under par at Memorial Park the 7 200 yard par 72 course He was two strokes ahead of Hans Merrell Mike Dietz Warren Smith and Bob Frainey and one of only six players under par McMillin led a 49 man field to Thursday round with 13 players tied at 75 for a 134 total field inclusion list of notable players and absences from the top money winners of 1957.
Garden Green Dragons improved to 16 3 last night at Oakwood by routing Lebanon 66 51. Raymond Lester scored 16, Benny Coxton 14, Bob Blankenship 14, while Pruner led Lebanon with 19. Garden meets Grundy Golden Wave next in Buchanan County tourney at Garden Friday.
University of Virginia high lighted its football coaching staff additions with Don Shula a former Washington Redskins defensive back and Sam Timer a standout North Plainfield High School coach.
