Wall Collapses Injuring Three Blocking Bluefield Traffic
A 125 foot section of a stone retaining wall along Princeton Avenue in Bluefield collapsed Wednesday afternoon near U.S. 19. Two people were hospitalized with back pains and possible injuries while a third suffered minor cuts. Traffic was halted for about three hours as debris covered the roadway. City officials had warned of the danger as heavy rains saturated the area. authorities monitored the site for weeks and found the wall unsafe.
