Welch police officer A Brekce Cline was wounded in the left wrist during a Saturday night disturbance at the Hole In The Wall near the Welch hotel. John Hairston of Gary and Cleveland, Ohio, was wounded in the abdomen amid a confrontation as officers attempted to arrest another man. Hairston and Cline were hospitalized, with Hairston reported in "pretty good" condition. County and state officers restored order. Hairston booked for resisting arrest and fighting bond at $100, later released.

Rites Planned Today for C. E. Parnell of Kyle
Funeral services for C. E. Parnell 51 of Kyle are set for 2 pm at the home, conducted by Rev. Christie of Northfork Presbyterian. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Parnell, vice president and general manager of Monarch Oil Co. Northfork, died Saturday night from a heart ailment. He was born December 17, 1895 in Lewellyn Pennsylvania and served in World War I. Survivors include his widow Alma and eight children, plus four brothers and two sisters. He moved to Kyle in 1929 with Monarch Oil Co. and rose to executive posts.

McDowell county officers arrested Johnny D. of Richlands Virginia and others after an auto wreck last week on the Way Cox inond read.
