Mrs Day fired on a drunken intruder in Welch after he forced entry into her home. The man, identified only as Joe, died soon after. Mack Day, her husband, was on jail guard duty at the time. No trial is expected as she is likely exonerated.
In Hagerstown Maryland on February 17 Frank Huntzberry twenty five and his brother Charlie Huntzberry twenty were indicted by the grand jury for criminally assaulting their young niece Lula Huntzberry who will be six in June. The suspects were jailed at Jugtown. The child testified before the grand jury with corroboration from her twin brother and a physician’s examination witness described the evidence as revolting.
A Bulgarian diplomatic agent warned that hostilities between Turkey and Bulgaria could erupt soon. He said Bulgaria aims to force Turkey to take the initiative to gain sympathy.
