Snowstorm disrupts Virginia roads. officials plan 12 hour shifts

Snow blanketed the region as Virginia and Southwest Virginia VDOT crews toiled on 12 hour shifts through the storm. Michelle Earl said primary roads would be cleared after snowfall stops, with 48 hours to open all roads. Fiery Derailment Sends Oil Tanker Into Kanawha River

A CSX train derailed Monday afternoon near Adena Village by Mount Carbon in Fayette County, spilling crude oil into the Kanawha River. Smoke and flames rose across Boomer as emergency crews responded. Officials said the derailment occurred at 1:20 p.m. and a suspected spill was reported around 1:45 p.m. to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
