Brown a former Fayette county state senator was found guilty on twenty six counts of embezzling funds from two Fayette County banks that failed in 1927 The jury reached verdicts after two and a half hours of deliberation in U S district court Brown who held roles at Fayette City National Bank and First National Bank of Webster was acquitted on two counts and cleared on two more for overdrawn checks.
A local coal trade rumor claims Jus tus Collinge interests plan to acquire Fordson Coal company’s Twin Branch plant in Mc Dowell county. No official confirmation found yesterday. L Epperly of Bluefield leads Collinne breata, which runs mines in Norfolk and Western and Virginia railroad regions. The Twin Branch operation adjoins Collinne property.
