A violent rainstorm over forty eight hours swelled rivers and streams flooding areas between Bluefield and Radford. Wires down and railroad operations interrupted as New River rose to levels near the tracks. People evacuated homes near Cottage Row and Willowton saw a major slide delaying No. 8.
Washington reports distillers and brewers in West Virginia pressuring lawmakers as a senate bill on interstate liquor shipments moves through committee. The measure would extend state police power over liquors before and after delivery, prompting national opposition from brewers and distillers fearing rapid passage.
An advertising notice urges mothers to fear winter croup and touts One Minute Cough Cure as a safe immediate remedy. It claims the medicine liquefies mucus reduces inflammation and cures coughs colds bronchitis and throat and lung troubles. A Hampton Georgia resident credits it with restoring a voice before a contest.
The court continued cases Thacker Coal and Coke Co vs Charles Back et al in Mingo county and A F Mathews executor case in Greenbrier. Brief submissions included Elizabeth Maxon executor vs Maxon Miller Co in Cabell, Ronk vs Higganbotham in Lincoln, Amick vs Ellis in Fayette. A Culloden West Virginia family, the Thows, rejoice as their 14 year old son, missing for a year after running away and posing as an orphan, is found alive with a broken leg in a railroad camp near Williamson. The discovery came via a newspaper notice, ending years of painful speculation for a mother near madness.

A brakesman on the Interstate railroad saved lives when his brake failed and his car rolled 45 miles per hour toward a dangerous switch and a sidetrack. He crawled along the car to fix the brake chain, then returned to stop the vehicle before the derailment point. Big Stone Gap Post.
