France's chief executive, President Faure, is struck by apoplexy and expected to die within hours. The report notes delays in official communication and questions about the next steps for government. President Faure died tonight at ten after an illness of just over three hours. He suffered an apoplectic stroke and the heart weakness had raised no serious fears earlier. A message was sent to Premier Dupuy at six, and he rushed to the Elysee as news circulated.
President McKinley in a Home Market Club speech outlines why the Philippines were forced upon the United States by war and why they cannot be returned to Spain nor left to anarchy. Dr Potter testified in the Adams poisoning case today asserting that Cornish was not made ill by poison. The testimony refutes claims of deliberate poisoning and supports Cornish's innocence in the incident.
