Wise County Man Garrotes Himself With Handkerchief
In Wise Virginia on February 15 a 52 year old man Irvin Cox of Wise tied a handkerchief to two sourwood saplings and strangled himself. The incident disrupted court sessions as jurors resumed a verdict and Elk Lodge damages of 650 dollars were awarded. Cox, a World War I veteran with heart problems, left his Beverly Hills Wise home earlier that day and was found by a neighbor and his son in law about 7:30 pm.
