Burglary Victims Report Losses At Local Terminals
Local police investigated a series of Thursday night burglaries across five establishments in Bluefield. Herbert Chaplin of Yadkinsville reports a raincoat, flashlight, spotlight, a fedger and liquor stolen from a locker at the bus terminal about 8 p.m. Other thefts include $6 and 25 cigarette cartons from Mick or Mack Grocery, pennies at the Norfolk and Western ticket office, and two revolvers, $10, and a radio from the Swap-Shop on 108 Princeton Avenue. B'nai B'rith club rooms and Bond's Clothing were broken into with no items taken. Mrs H C Hambrick reports a purse lost Thursday night containing $33, an N&W pass, VFW card, and small items.

A Monte Flower area youth, age 8, died after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed a road near the Macadam school. The driver did not see him. no charges were filed. Ernest Edward Fagan a 31 year old Norfolk man was executed in the state penitentiary electric chair for the September slaying of Horace Hugh Cox a Norfolk automobile dealer. He died at 7 39 a m five minutes after the switch was thrown. A stay of execution had been granted to allow further appeals. Frank Peterson of Norfolk was sentenced to 99 years and a day for the crime.
