Four-Year-Old Drowns In Tug River Swell At Hensley
In Hensley West Virginia a four year old girl Mary Belle Lacy drowns when she slipped into the swollen Tug River while helping her mother collect water for the family chickens. The child is the daughter of Lewis and Mary Lacy who live in a company house near the railroad and river. Trooper K H Ellis says an eight foot hole yawned at the bank and the flood current swept her away as water rose three feet above normal due to heavy rains. Searchers from Welch continued to comb the river for the body late tonight.

Train Service Hearing Is Set in West Virginia
The Public Service Commission will hear a Norfolk and Western proposal to abandon two daily passenger trains between Bluefield and Williamson.
