Colorado Slayer of Officer Dies in Gas Chamber
Otta McDaniels, 30, was executed at the Colorado State penitentiary for killing Sheriff W. W. Dunlap of Montezuma county and sheepman James Westfall. He entered the chamber at 7:51 pm, gas produced instantly, dying at 8:01 pm. He had asked to sit with convicts and watch a so called preview with a pig as victim, which was denied. He received prayers with the prison chaplain earlier and was visited by his brother Herbert, jailed for the same crimes.
