Crews from Appalachian Power work around the clock to restore electricity in Mercer and McDowell counties after a violent wind storm. By Friday afternoon over 603 customers in Mercer, 407 in McDowell, and later about 220 remained without power. A Bartley accident involving a pole worsened outages. officials expect most Mercer customers back by nightfall.
