Three West Virginia highway projects the Coalfields Expressway the King Coal Highway and the Shawnee Highway have completed location studies and are underway with environmental analyses. Officials said funding is in place and all three remain on track though construction dates are uncertain.

Mercer County development aims to add hundreds of jobs
Development projects in Mercer County through 1996 could add about 800 jobs by expanding the business base. In Princeton area, a Sleep Inn and a Hampton Inn are under construction near US Route 460 and I-77, along with a Texas Steakhouse. The three additions could bring 450 new jobs, with 180 to 200 hotel rooms. States Industries plans a Cumberland Industrial Park opening in March, initial 50 jobs possibly rising to 200.
