In a Saturday escape attempt at Mercer County Jail two inmates Donald Coleman and Dwight Mathena overpowered a corrections officer and blinded him briefly with powder before freeing a female officer to access the courthouse roof. They climbed down using bedsheets but were quickly captured. Mathena suffered a broken leg and other injuries and is hospitalized. Charges are pending as of Sunday.
