The shooting occurred at the door of Preece s William Street apartment when a visitor, Fine, 49, of Williamson, allegedly tried to enter uninvited. Fine, a former Bluefield resident, was with a young man named Dick Wolford and had gone to find Bill Ferguson, drank, argued, and Fine reportedly drew his hip as Preece fired. Fine is survived by his widow and four children.
