A 1977 Chevrolet van and a 24-foot Millard travel trailer collided on southbound I-77 two miles north of the Bluefield exit. No injuries were reported. Driver Gilbert Knapp of Niles Ohio and his wife Mary were unhurt. Responders from Mercer County Hat-Mat, Green Valley Glenwood, Bluewell Fire, and Bluefield Rescue assisted due to propane tanks. Thousands of Appalachian Power Company customers in the Pulaski Bland Wythe Giles and surrounding counties faced a daylong outage with 68 000 customers without power in Pulaski division as crews work around the clock. Bluefield division reported 10 587 out at noon but only 7 200 remained without power by 4 p.m. Crews from multiple divisions assist as temperatures rise tomorrow and into next week.

Osakafumi sentenced to life in Mercer County murder case
