Alderson-Broaddus edged Salem 38 to 37 while Naval Air Station Norfolk beat Naval Training Station Norfolk 50 to 47. North Carolina State trounced Davidson 42 to 33, and Georgetown overwhelmed Loyola 51 to 41. Virginia Tech defeated William and Mary 46 to 22 with Duke at 2 percent.

New York Feb 10 The Brooklyn Dodgers add veteran catcher Ray Hayworth age 39 who played for the club early last season and left baseball after his release. They also sign rookie pitcher Tommy Warren from Tulsa Oklahoma who is a right hander and holds a medical discharge from the armed services.
The Pocahontas high school basketball team will meet Bramwell in Bramwell on Friday night with a 7 o'clock tip. Both teams have won once at home in two prior meetings, making Friday’s game the rubber match.
At 7 00 p m the Poca Business girls team will face Bramwell girls in the second matchup. The schedule follows the first game with both teams vying for a regional win and tournament position.
