American forces captured Caloocan after three hours of heavy combat. The report says Old Glory was raised over the town and that twenty thousand were engaged. Rebels who did not fall fled before the pursuing troops in the furious onslaught.
Manila reports Brigadier General Ovis leads American forces to seize Caloocan in a three hour fight aided by the gunboat Concord and monitor Monadnock. Troops including Twentieth Kansas and First Montana routed Filipino defenders with heavy enemy casualties and light American losses. Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Wallace among wounded.
Dispatch describes a mass Filipino concentration around Caloocan with tens of thousands under rebel banners. Americans inflicted heavy casualties on rebels while suffering few losses. General Otis holds Caloocan and nearby area, Aguinaldo retreating to Marilao seven miles north to reorganize. Small skirmishes occur with limited damage.
