Montcalm Elementary Parents at ease after roof safety check
In Mercer County hundreds kept children home as concerns about Montcalm Elementary School roof persisted. Officials closed the school Feb. 5 for inspection after leaks during Blizzard of 1993 surfacing. about 130 of 375 students attended Monday with plans for more return. Engineers said the roof is structurally safe and braces allow wall flexing.

Calloway building crumbles in Bluefield storm
A late Sunday night collapse of the Calloway building on Virginia Avenue near Walnut Street in Bluefield Va left bricks and debris in a downtown parking lot and damaged a pickup. Police chief Jack Asbury likened it to a bomb, noting the wall fell into the lot and a vehicle was damaged while the area endured storm damage.

Collision sends 3 students to hospital
A Mount View High School bus carrying about 15 students collided with a pickup on U.S. Route 52 near Welch. Three students and two adults were hospitalized, all under evaluation at Welch Emergency Hospital. no charges filed as investigation continues.

Auctioneer to Hall of Fame inductee in West Virginia
