He played a key role in banking reform known as The West Virginia Plan and headed major West Virginia and Ohio banks during a long career. He is survived by his widow Elizabeth Secrest McCullough Given and a sister Amma Pettrey. his daughter Elizabeth and son Waitman C. Given Jr. preceded him in death. Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Klinger Carpenter Funeral Home Huntington. Burial Thursday at Monte Vista Park Cemetery Bluefield.
