Fire leveled Littleton West Virginia destroying the business district. About 1200 residents were left homeless as flames consumed wooden structures along the railroad gorge. Aid poured in from Wheeling and the Baltimore and Ohio line supplying shelter and relief.
In the police court yesterday Walter Dow was fined $150 for carrying a gun. Boyd Brown for resisting an officer was fined $30. J. D. Lyons and Joe Lane, plain drunk, were fined $5 each.

Roanoke Virginia February 9 The News reports Capt Harry Douglass a passenger conductor who runs between the city and Norfolk captured Lee Thurman wanted for the murder of a young marine. Douglass boarded Thurman during a Farmville stop and with a pistol secured him then telegraphed Lynchburg police. Thurman was handed to authorities for transfer to Norfolk. The slaying involved placing the marine’s body in a trunk with intent to remove it but the trunk was found by a housemaid. Thurman had bought the trunk. A $1000 reward had been offered for Thurman’s capture after a nationwide hunt.

In Newburgh New York on February 9 six children in Terrence Clark's family of twelve fell into nervous convulsions after a Christmas night fright. The eldest is 20 and the first terrified boy was 18. A creamery wagon driver named Lynch allegedly intoxicated frightened the boy by dumping him into a stable with a mule. He screamed for help for over a half hour before recovery began. fear and darkness left the others in perilous nervous states.
Mary Arney an eight year old girl from the McCormick farm on the Cumberland side of the river in Harrisburg fought off a tramp who grabbed her as she walked home from school. The assailant dragged her into a thicket but fled as her siblings cried out, jumping a freight train and escaping toward Wormleysburg. Police are pursuing the suspect described as a well known tough character.
