West Virginia reports zero staff vacancies at Southern Regional Jail
Gov. Jim Justice announced a milestone after a recent wave of corrections officer graduations. Fifty three new officers graduated last week, helping reduce statewide vacancies from 30 percent at the Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County to zero. Additional facilities also report zero vacancies as pay scales and recruitment boosts pay dividends.

River spill deemed non toxic by officials on river
West Virginia DEP and DNR officials toured Mercer County after a non toxic substance, later likened to Elmer's Glue, entered the East River from a tractor trailer fire along Interstate 77. Mercer County EMA director Keith Gunnoe said the glue-like material appeared non toxic and, by 2 p.m., there were no fish kills reported.
