John Netotea aged 52 of Raysal died from a heart attack Sunday in a Welch hospital after admission. He lived in Raysal 25 years and held posts with Masonic Lodge No. 148 AF&AM Seager OES No. 80 McDowell County Shrine and Beni Kedem in Charleston. Survived by wife Ruth Bakiwin Netotea daughter Wil la Serra sister Geneva McKwain and two grandchildren. Funeral is 4 pm today at Fanning Funeral Home Iaeger with 11 am Wednesday services and graveside rites by Masonic Lodge No. 148. Flowerbearers are OES No. 80 Iaeger and Rebekah Lodge.
Funeral services are planned for Cheshire Long of 122 Vencill St Bluefield Va and Von Musser 52 of 416 Hudson St Bluefield. Long will be held Wednesday at Bethel Methodist Church with burial at Rest Lawn Cemetery. Musser will be conducted at First Christian Church with burial at a local cemetery.
Jessie Flanner aged 53 of Jenkin Jones died Monday at Bluefield Sanitarium after a short illness. The body was taken to Fanning Funeral Home Welch for funeral arrangements.

Ernest Wooten of Davy died Monday morning at his home from an apparent heart attack. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Fanning Funeral Home in Welch.
Five Concord College students are being questioned by school officials about stealing two mid term exams and altering grades after the tests. Three involved are on athletic teams. President Joseph Marsh says no dismissal has been decided and names will not be published due to college policy.
A group of 23 electric utilities formed the East Central Area Reliability Coordination Agreement. It creates an interconnection system spanning eight states to ensure reliable service for about 25 million people across 154000 square miles. The signatories serve all or parts of Pennsylvania Maryland Virginia West Virginia Ohio Kentucky Indiana and Michigan.
Rotim Construction Co of Princeton submitted the low bid of 83 250 for a cafe and all purpose room addition to Dudley Elementary School in Bluefield Virginia. Bids opened at the Tazewell County Courthouse Monday. Contract expected to be awarded Tuesday at the county board of supervisors meeting.

A 19 year old former Hurley Virginia boy Billy Bennie Smith drowned Saturday in a canal near Ft. Lauderdale Florida while driving to work in fog his car veered off the highway into the water. Survivors include parents Mr and Mrs Clark Smith of Hurley and siblings Shirley Taylor June Taylor Florence Mildred Smith Kermit Smith Ray Smith Lawrence Smith. Hogs and cattle sale totals reported from Tazewell Virginia livestock market Monday. Prices include hogs top at 19.65 per hundredweight, heavy butchers 19.25, light butchers 17.10 to 17.50, sows 15.25 to 17, feeder pigs 16 to 21.50. veal to 38.50, slaughter heifers 18.75 to 20.50, cows 14 to 18.50, bulls 19 to 21, and stock feeder steer calves 29 to 30.75.
Natural Resources chairman Carl Gainer noted general agreement on key points of the governor task force bill to curb land damage from coal strip mining and require land restoration. The measure would move administration from the Mines Department to Natural Resources. The six member panel includes Gainer, Hatcher, Kaufman, Mullins, Hylton, and Hubbard.
An autopsy found 75-year-old Tony C. Tomkies died of natural causes after being found in the furnace room of his Summers County general store. Sheriff Norm Shanklin noted no foul play. glasses and alleged blood were found nearby. Survivors include two Huntington lawyers named Frank and Douglas Tomkies.
