In Des Moines an 85 year old woman, Flora H. Bryan, was found dead with a hunting knife in her chest at her home. Coroner O E Owen said she died at least 12 hours earlier. Police and state and county officers hunted a 17 year old youth seen in the house, AWOL from Fort Riley.
In Richmond Virginia police report a husband shot his bedridden wife twice then killed himself. Mrs Rose Appich Stoler 60 is in critical condition with two chest wounds while Charles S Stoler 60 is dead from a head wound. The wife notified police by telephone and said her husband planned to “put you out of your troubles.”
