Fuller Family Embodies American Patriotism During War
The Bluefield Fuller family illustrates wartime dedication. M. T. Fuller Jr., 20, survivor of the Yorktown carrier and now a machinist’s mate third class, served since 1940 and fought at Coral Sea. Father, 41, electrician first class, joined in 1942 after learning his son was wounded, wounded at Villa La Villa in 1943, veteran of Solomons to Bougainville. Sam, 18-year-old enlistee since July 1943, trains at Great Lakes and serves near Town City pre flight school. They reside on Cumberland road with younger siblings Max and Marie.

Women Aid Service Men's Club Dishes Donation Drive
Area women raised money and goods for the Service Men's club with contributions of dishes and canned goods. Ninety-one servicemen were served, with five spouses and one baby present, representing 13 states. Local volunteers led by Mrs. H M Heldreth and Mrs. E K Grubb organized the drive. First Lt Earl R Lazear Jr visits on leave while T C Sutherland Jr earns a naval promotion and serves in England after Sicily and Italy actions.
