Deputy Thomas Alan Reid, 51, a 12 year Tazewell County Sheriff's Department veteran, died Monday while serving as a bailiff in the county court. A funeral was held Thursday at the former Pocahontas High School Gaza Kovach Auditorium with about 160 uniformed and civilian officers in attendance. Judge Jack S. Hurley Jr. praised Reid as a consummate law enforcement professional who shared a deep working rapport with colleagues.
