Goebel Dies After Long Illness in Frankfort

William K. Goebel died at 6 44 p m in the Capitol Hotel parlor after a day of hopeful signs of recovery followed by a rapid decline. Arthur Goebel and family were present with others awaiting Justus Goebel’s Arizona-bound arrival. Goebel, aged forty four, never married, was a noted Kenton county politician and longtime foe of ostentation, with a famous 1895 confrontation ending in the death of John L Sanford.
