A Drive to the Top fundraiser kicks off in Bluefield
The East River Mountain Overlook restoration campaign titled A Drive to the Top began with a 4 p.m. kickoff atop the mountain. Bluefield officials and civic leaders gathered as Nelson Walker of the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce announced a goal of 130000 dollars to fund the project, which started in 1991. Attendees included Beverly Saunders of the Holiday Inn, City officials J Rudolph Brammer Joe Long and Webster Gilbreath, and Mercer County leaders.
