Death of Joseph Barry author of Annals of Harpers Ferry
Joseph Barry, longtime Harpers Ferry resident and author of the Annals of Harpers Ferry, died at his home after a long life of public service. Born in Ireland and a Cork graduate, he witnessed John Brown’s raid and trial. He planned his end in old age. a widow survives in Richmond, Virginia.

Train on Chesapeake and Ohio narrowly avoids wreck near Indian Rock
