In Roanoke Virginia on January 31 Rev J W Lynch married Richard Martinez of San Jose Costa Rica and Miss Catherine Thornpeake of Richmond. Martinez a VPI cadet resigned from the college and will stay in Roanoke with his bride for now.
The Ways and Means Committee adopts a plan to conduct a thorough non partisan investigation into the present high cost of living. Chairman Payne and Minority Leader Clark of Missouri are assigned to draft the resolution outlining the scope and details of the inquiry.
The new district attorney will pursue prosecutions in the ongoing case against former Mayor Eugene Schmitz who is under indictment for bribery. An early hearing is planned to advance the docket.
San Francisco January 31. Patrick Calhoun and several others linked to city grafting will be tried without delay under new District Attorney Charles M. Fickert. Trials for Mullally Ford Abbott and Schmitz are on the docket, with Ruef Glass and other bribery indictments expected in February.

The case of Frank Meadow was called for trial in the Columbus common pleas court. Meadow is accused of dynamiting the Spino family home in Arlington last August, resulting in the deaths of Mrs. Spino and her five children.
